| Screen capture won't capture the intended screen. Some other application like GoToMyPC or WebEx is interfering. | Add the application’s executable name to the executable filter. To do this, make sure the interfering application is running. Open the Affinity Options dialog. If you want to add the executable to the filter for your own profile, go to the Local Advanced tab. If you want to add the executable to the filter for all users, go to the Global Options tab. Click the Settings button to open the filter dialog. Click Auto Detect to add the interfering applications to the filter. If your application is not detected, find the executable name and enter it manually. Save your settings. If you make the change to the global configuration, the change may not take effect immediately for other users. Ask them to log back on to Affinity to get the changes. |
| The Freestyle dialog keeps opening for a screen that I image-enabled. | When you image-enable the screen, make note of the caption of the Image Enable dialog. It lists the executable’s file name, and the ‘fingerprint’ or ID for the screen. When the Freestyle dialog appears, you will probably see that the ID in the dialog caption has changed. This means that some feature on the screen has changed and Affinity was not able to recognize it as a screen that had been image enabled. This generally means that a key control on the screen has moved or changed size. |
| I cannot log on using Windows Authentication | If you cannot connect to the Laserfiche repository using Windows Authentication, but you can log on to the Laserfiche Client without a user name and password, make sure that a password has been set for the ‘admin’ account on your Laserfiche server. A blank password for ‘admin’ will prevent |
| It takes a very long time for the Affinity logon window to open. | The Affinity logon window automatically retrieves the names of all of the repositories that are visible on your network. This can take a while on large or slower networks. Enable the option to log on automatically, and Affinity will immediately connect to the selected repository next time you log on. This is much faster because Affinity caches the repository name in instead of searching the network. |
| I can't make the toolbar go to or stay on my secondary display device. | The toolbar in Affinity version 1.0 does not support docking on a secondary device. |
| When I right-click the Affinity session icon, nothing happens. | A modal dialog, such as an error window or the Options dialog is open. It is probably behind another window where you cannot see it. Find the window and close it. |
| I do not have the option to save an image enable screen configuration to my local profile. | Open the Affinity Options dialog and select the Global Options tab. Change the Image Enable Screen Policy to allow users to save configurations to their profile. |
| Laserfiche shows that licenses are in use on workstations running Affinity, but the Laserfiche client window is not open. | This problem applies only to Affinity 1.0.163 and earlier. When a user closes a Laserfiche client window that has been opened by Affinity, and unless they use File > Exit from the menu to close the entire application, a hidden browser window remains open in the background, tying up a conncection/license. This is caused by a bug in the Laserfiche 7.2 Toolkit. Starting with version 1.0.183, Affinity now detects this scenario and unloads the Laserfiche client in the background, freeing the license. By default, a maximum of 10 seconds will pass before Affinity unloads the client. Please see the Affinity version history for more information. |
| When I am configuring Affinity and selecting what the destination folder is, I recieve the error "Type Mismatch". | If there is a shortcut to a folder below the default folder level, you will recieve this error message. After clicking close you will still be able to choose a destination folder. The folders listed will not however be in alphanumeric order. To workaround this error, either ignore it, or make sure there are no shortcuts listed in the default folder level before browsing to select a destination folder. This error exists in v.1.0.163 and earlier. |
To find what version of Affinity you are currently using, go to the Licenses tab in the Options dialog. The version will be listed in the lower left hand corner of the screen.
Affinity updates can be applied by downloading and installing the latest installation package from http://www.umdata.com. The installation package will automatically update any Affinity version that is already on the workstation. You do not need to uninstall the previous version. You do not need to obtain a new license to install an update for the same major product version. Multiple versions of Affinity can run at the same site without conflict. You do not need to plan a major deployment to update all workstations at the same time.
1.0.185 - May 27, 2008
- NEW: Added obscured control filter. Obscured controls are those which are technically visible, but are completely overlapped or hidden by other controls. These controls are still highlighted when users move the mouse in the screen capture dialog, and can interfere with selecting non-obscured controls in the foreground. Enabling the filter will cause obscured controls to be ignored during screen capture, thus simplifying the user experience.
This feature is disabled by default to achieve maximum compatibility out of the box. There are some screens (like those in Time Matters) that do not work well with this filtering technique.
IMPORTANT: Changing this setting will affect the way screens are identified. Some image-enabled screens may need to be reconfigured.
This feature is being released on fast-track due to customer demand. Currently there is no user-interface element to configure this feature. Please contact support if you need to enable this feature at your site.
1.0.184 - March 19, 2008
- NEW: Multiple template search items can now be combined using the OR operator in the Image Enable Screen dialog. Only AND combinations were available previously.
- NEW: Wildcard-style searches are now supported for template fields in the Image Enable Screen dialog.
- FIX: If Affinity is launched implicitly due to a request for an instance of ImageEnableScriptingObject in a program or script, the user will be prompted to log on unless they have configured Affinity to log on automatically. In some circumstances, the logon dialog could be obscured by other windows. To prevent the logon dialog from getting lost, it is now displayed as a fixed top-level window when Affinity is launched implicitly. The logon dialog will still display normally (not a fixed top-level window) when the user launches Affinity manually.
1.0.183 - February 16, 2008
- NEW: When the LF Client is loaded and opened from the Toolkit, LF hides the main file browser window, and opens a second window to display the file browser or search results. When the user closes the visible window, and unless they use File > Exit from the menu to close the entire application, the hidden browser window remains open in the background, tying up a connection/license. Affinity now detects this scenario and closes the hidden window, freeing the license. By default, a maximum of 10 seconds will pass before Affinity unloads the client.
In environments where other solutions using the LF Toolkit are present, it may not be desirable for Affinity to unload the LF client automatically. This feature can be disabled or reconfigured to use a different time threshold. Please contact support for detailed instructions if necessary.
If a user opens an electronic document from the LF Client and closes the browser window, but leaves the electronic document open, they will receive the following prompt when Affinity unloads the client.
“There are electronic documents open. If you exit this repository, you will not be able to save any changes to the repository. Do you still wish to exit the repository?”
This is the same behavior the user should expect if they were to exit the LF Client from the menu using File > Exit. To avoid this message, users should be trained to close the electronic document before closing the LF browser window.
- NEW: In some cases where two screens in the same application are very similar, Affinity may not be able to differentiate the screens. Screen recognition sensitivity is now configurable per application. Please contact support for instructions to configure this feature if required for your target application.
- BUG FIX: The folder browser dialog would raise the error “Type Mismatch” if a shortcut to a folder was encountered.
- BUG FIX: The floating toolbar sometimes appeared blank or painted incorrectly in Windows Vista. This occurred most often during startup if Affinity was set to log on automatically, or if the toolbar orientation changed when repositioned.
1.0.163 - January 30, 2008
-
BUG FIX: The following error was raised incorrectly during registration and license activation if the current Laserfiche server had zero read-only licenses.
“An internal error occurred during validation. Please contact support."
1.0.160 - January 12, 2008
- NEW: Affinity Quick Start guide added to installation. This is a PDF file that is launched after installation. It can also be accessed from the Affinity Programs group in the Start menu. The quick start guide includes information about new features such as the MS Office full-text search utility and product activation.
- NEW: Microsoft Word/Excel full text search feature. This feature can be enabled per-user in the Options dialog.
- NEW: Product activation feature allows both full and demo licenses to be acquired immediately over the Internet from the Affinity Licensing server. First-time installation at a site will guide the user through the activation/registration process.
- NEW: Hot keys (keyboard shortcuts) can be assigned to screen capture functions (searching and adding new documents). Hot keys are configured in the Options dialog.
- NEW: The Affinity installation package now includes the Laserfiche runtime. The runtime does not have to be installed separately.
- NEW: The user’s local executable filter is automatically updated when a user logs on to Affinity the first time.
- BUG FIX: Floating toolbar did not always show outline or windows contents when dragging.
- BUG FIX: Session icon menu would not close automatically when losing focus.
