This error has multiple causes.

If the Laserfiche Client is loaded, but not logged in to a repository, when you launch a search/scan operation from Affinity, the error message “Unknown error. [6000]” is displayed from the Laserfiche Client window. This error has been addressed in Affinity 2.1.045, and the Client will now automatically log on as expected.

“Unknown error. [6000]” may be displayed when launching a scan operation from Affinity due to an internal Laserfiche error. Most often, this error occurs the second time you attempt to launch a scanning operation from Affinity while the Laserfiche Client process is still running. In previous versions, this could result in empty documents being created in your repository.

Until Laserfiche releases a patch, Affinity 2.1.045 will detect the error, automatically close the error dialog, and re-launch the scan operation. The error dialog will still display briefly. Do not close the error dialog manually.

In rare cases, the scan window will not re-open, and will instead continue to display the error. If the error continues in this manner, select File > Exit from the Laserfiche Client window menu to terminate the process completely. Don’t select File > Close, or click the window ‘X’ button, as it will not unload the background browser window, and the Client process will not terminate.
